About
An independent car locksmith based in Coronado
Car & Keys San Diego is a mobile automotive locksmith. We work out of a van, not a shop, so the work happens wherever your car is.
Every day, 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM

Who we are
Car & Keys San Diego is an independent, Coronado-based automotive locksmith serving the island and the San Diego neighborhoods around the bay and the beaches. We open locked cars, replace lost keys, program key fobs and transponder chips, repair ignitions and cut spares, all at the vehicle.
When you call, you talk to the locksmith. There is no call center and no dispatcher selling your job to whoever is nearest. The price we quote is the price. If the job turns out to be different once we see the car, we stop and requote before going on.

How we work
The price comes first
You hear what the job costs on the phone, before we drive out. If the car turns out to need something different, we stop and requote.
ID and ownership, every time
We check identification and registration or another proof of ownership before opening a car or making a key. It protects you and everyone else.
Cars only
We do not rekey houses or install storefront hardware. Doing one thing keeps our tools, key blanks and know-how current for the cars on San Diego roads.
Straight answers
If your car is one of the few that really does need the dealer, we say so and tell you what to ask for.
Licensed in California
California requires locksmith companies to hold a license from the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) and to show that number in their advertising. Our license number is LCO 8363. You can verify any California locksmith license in the Department of Consumer Affairs license search before you let anyone near your car.
Three ways to avoid a locksmith scam
- Ask for the license number and check it. A legitimate locksmith will give it to you without hesitation.
- Get the price before the work starts. A very low quote that jumps once the technician arrives is the most common trick in this trade.
- Look for the company name on the van, the invoice and the technician's ID. If they do not match, do not proceed.
