Mobile car lockouts, key replacement and fob programming in Downtown San Diego, 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM, every day.
Every day, 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM
Downtown is a short drive over the bridge from us, and we are there often. If you need a car locksmith in downtown San Diego, we come to the garage, the valet lot, or the curb where your car is sitting. We work at the car. Keys are cut and programmed on site, so you drive away instead of waiting on a tow.
Downtown parking has its own problems. Cars sit in garages under hotels and condo towers. Valet stands hold keys in a box and hand them back at closing. Fobs get left on a Gaslamp bar top. Garage attendants want you out before the gate drops. Tell us the garage, the level and the row when you call. After a game the streets take time to clear; we tell you what to expect when you call.
Downtown for us runs from Little Italy and the Embarcadero south to Petco Park and the Convention Center. That takes in the Gaslamp Quarter and Fifth Avenue, East Village around the ballpark, the Marina District behind Seaport Village, Cortez Hill up the slope, Columbia along the water, and India Street through Little Italy. The calls come from the garages under the hotels and condo towers, the valet stands on the Gaslamp side streets, the metered curbs of East Village, the commuter rows at Santa Fe Depot, the cruise terminal lots off Harbor Drive, and the underground parking beneath Waterfront Park.
The night ended, the fob did not come home, and the bar is dark until the afternoon. The car is in a garage on Sixth Avenue or Fourth, on a level you half remember, and the attendant wants it gone. We come to the space, open the car and program a new fob there, and on most cars we erase the lost one so nobody else can use it.
The garage beneath Waterfront Park is where people park for the County building, the Little Italy restaurants, and a walk along the bay. It has a gated ramp and levels that look alike, so the fob locked inside is only half the problem. Give us the level and the nearest stairwell, and we drive in as a visitor and open the car at the space.
A key cut at a hardware store opens the door of a car in a tower garage off India Street, then the dash lights up and the engine does nothing. The blade is right and the chip is missing. We program a transponder key at your space in the resident garage; buzz us through the gate or meet us at the entrance on Kettner Boulevard or State Street.
Give us the building rather than the block. For a garage, that means its name or entrance street, the level and the row; for a condo tower, the name and whether the gate needs a resident fob, since we arrive as a guest. At a valet stand we meet the attendant with you. On the street, give us the cross street and the side; we take a metered space or a loading zone with the hazards on. Ballpark and Convention Center dates slow Harbor Drive and East Village after the event ends, so expect us from a side street.
The places locals call from most, and what usually goes wrong there.
Downtown calls run heavy on car lockouts in parking structures and key fob programming when a fob was lost on a night out. We replace lost car keys at the garage, program transponder keys when a hardware-store copy opens the door but will not start the car, and pull broken keys out of doors and ignitions on older cars that still run on a metal key.
